On November 14, 2018, internetwarriors GmbH invited attendees to the second professional conference at Google's Berlin office. The conference addressed the topic, "Online Marketing for E-Commerce Companies." The event featured a keynote from Google on "Customer Journey" and two case studies from our colleagues in the SEO and SEA fields.

Make the Most of Decision Moments

Following a welcome and introduction of internetwarriors GmbH by the CEO Axel Zawierucha, Pauline Langan from Google began her presentation on "The Customer Journey - The Path to Your Customers." The introductory talk illustrated vividly how today's consumer makes purchasing decisions. The challenge for retailers is to provide the right person with the right information at the right moment to influence their purchasing decision positively. The use of smartphones is changing the decision-making process in fundamental ways.

Especially concerning Christmas and the associated holiday shopping, the timing of reaching customers with suitable information plays a crucial role. The lead time for gift purchases should not be underestimated. A campaign that starts too late can prevent the most profitable time of the year from being maximized.

Data-Driven Performance Marketing and SEO in E-Commerce

What does Data-Driven mean, and how do I use Artificial Intelligence for my online marketing campaigns? Johannes Stabel answered these questions in his presentation "Data-Driven Performance Marketing," covering the use of automation and artificial intelligence in campaigns. The case study clearly illustrated the advantages of automation and AI using the example of shopping campaigns and their optimization for product margins.

Not only did our colleague from the SEA team have a chance to speak. Our colleagues from the SEO team also presented a case study and revealed what is important for SEO in E-Commerce.

The second case study, presented by Jana Fiedler and Toni Preuß, showed which mistakes are to be avoided. Both aspects of technical SEO and editorial SEO were highlighted and explained in more detail. Factors like crawling, indexing of pages, and landing page structures are just a few that should be considered for a successful SEO strategy.

The final talk was followed by a panel discussion. Norman Nielsen (formerly Head of Content Marketing at Zalando SE), Ralf Lorenz (CEO of the online shop Mc Buero), and Axel Zawierucha addressed the questions "Content Marketing - Necessary Evil or Revenue Driver? What is the significance of content for E-Commerce shops?" and provided thought-provoking insights.

Networking at the E-Commerce Professional Conference: Generating Valuable Contacts

Following the official part of the conference, there was an opportunity to wind down the evening with drinks and snacks, and to discuss further aspects of online marketing in e-commerce businesses during the networking session.
