GEO study: New rules for visibility.
What we measured in our third GEO study changes everything — for SEO, content, and brand management.
In our most comprehensive study to date, we analyzed more than 100,000 search queries and uncovered a profound discrepancy between classic search engine optimization and AI-powered search.
✌🏾 The 20% Gap: Less than a fifth of the top rankings from classic Google Search are cited as primary sources by Google's AI Mode or ChatGPT.
🥊 Structure beats prose: AI systems prefer highly structured, data-driven content. These achieve a 15 percent higher citation rate than classic marketing and body copy
🖱️ Zero-click as the new norm: More than 65 percent of information needs are already satisfied directly within the AI interface, without a single click to the brand's website.
WHAT MATTERS NOW: Your key take-aways
The overlap between SEO rankings and AI citations has fallen by more than half in just 12 months.
Over 70% of the URLs linked in AI Mode can't be found in the top 50 Google search results.
With Google AI Mode, up to 93% of searches now end without a single click. The search itself becomes the answer.
With ChatGPT, over 80% of citations aren't in the Google Top 50 — which means SEO is even less helpful here than in AI mode.

“Classic search was about rankings. In AI Mode, it's about trust, context, and citation. The one who gets cited, wins.”
